Therapies
Physiotherapy modalities are commonly used in the treatment of many patients experiencing back pain, neck pain, arthritis, and other musculoskeletal problems. In order to properly address our patients’ needs, Mason City Chiropractic utilizes chiropractic techniques and technology to determine the most effective therapeutic procedures for your unique condition. The following therapies are available at our facility:
Cervical/Lumbar decompression traction
Available for those who suffer with cervical or lumbar pain. This traction therapy works to relieve pressure between the discs of the spine. Many of those suffering with degenerative disc disease or bulging discs have a great deal of compression in their spine. This stretching device will allow for more water to reabsorb into the disc and create space for the nerve to flow through, giving the patient relief.
Intersegmental traction
Is used to improve disc hydration, facet joint motion, and reduce tight muscle spasms. We have a roller table and water table available to help gently and effectively reestablish normal range of motion to your spine.
Electrical muscle stimulation
Sends an electrical impulse into a single muscle group or group of muscles to repeatedly contract and break up any muscle spasm. The impulse will work to fatigue the muscle group and force it to relax allowing the patient to hold their adjustment longer.
Ultrasound
Sends deep penetrating sound waves to damaged tissue to heat the area and enhance the healing process. This can be very effective for acute injuries to the back or extremity joints.
Cold Laser
Sends wavelengths of light into the tissue to be reabsorbed, this absorption will accelerate the healing process by regenerating the tissue. This therapy is often used for chronic or acute injuries to alleviate pain, reduce swelling or muscle spasms, and increase functionality. Many of our patients not only use this therapy for back pain but a lot of extremity injuries to the knees, shoulders, wrists, etc.
